Sock Summit Day 2: Oh, the learning!

Things I learned today:

The line to get into the marketplace yesterday was nothing.

(That line goes down the hall and into the huge lobby. Insane.)

How to shape knee-high socks so that l neither cut off circulation to my feet nor have them pool at my ankles. (Thanks, Joan!)

That when Steph and Tina say “hey let’s break a world record,” knitters say yes. Lots of knitters say yes.

Even Cat Borhdi picked up straight needles and knitted. (We’re pretty sure that was the first time Cat had touched a pair of straight needles in years. Steph said that getting that many knitters to use straight needles at once was one of her finest achievements.)

That when you try to break a world record, you can get the fire marshal, the commissioner and the local news to come watch.

That I can (barely) hold my shit together while asking Barbara Walker to sign my book.

That you cannot trust knitters in an art museum.

That knitters + hula hoops = adorable.

Exhibit 1:

Exhibit 2:

That, despite the fact that I am no longer nineteen, I can, in fact, function on nine hours of sleep over two days.

Speaking of sleep….
