Miracles
The miracle of blocking lace just never gets old.
From a sad little lump of string to a big, beautiful stole. I swear, it’s magic.
The process isn’t always so fun – scrambling around on hands and knees, mouth full of pins, desperately trying to make sure everything is even. My brand new spanky blocking wires certainly improved the experience, but it’s still tedious and nerve-wracking.
But oh, to see your carefully-wrought lace all spread out, revealed and glorious…it does a knitter good. To check on in through the day, gently running fingertips over perfect little stitches, admiring your work from every angle. The moment of anxiety and anticipation as you finally take the pins out…will this be the time that it contracts and crumples back into a shapeless mess?
No, not this time. This time you have a beautiful cashmere stole that will almost certainly make your mother-in-law cry on Christmas. Excellent.

Very pretty.
I started Miss Lambert’s many moons ago, and now it just sits there looking at me. Maybe I need to try to figure out where the heck I am in the chart.

Fabulous! I agree, lucky MIL. A work of art and comfort. Cashmere lace is totally fabulous.
