A Round of Applause
(Get it? Applause? Clap? I crack myself up.)
Finally, finally – my clapotis, my camera, the sun and I were all in the same place at the same time.
Pattern: Clapotis, by Kate Gilbert
Yarn: Brooks Farm Four Play
Needles: Knit Picks Options, US size 9
Modifications: I added in a couple (two? three?) middle section repeats, to make it a wee bit longer, but that’s the only modification.
Thoughts: It’s quite lovely. The silk in the Four Play gives it a lovely sheen, the wool makes it cozy, and the drop stitch pattern makes it light and flowing. I hardly need to sing the praises of Clapotis…many have done it before me, and with better grace.
The colorway is still tweaking me out just a little. Orange? Me? Really? But maybe, if I’m not the kind of person who wears orange, somewhere deep down inside I want to be the kind of person who wears orange. Maybe this is the beginning of a personal revolution.
Nah. But the sunny, melon-y, citrus-y color will be a nice relief when winter comes round again.

From what I can tell in these pictures, the color complements your skin tone quite well. I agree about wearing it with black in the winter. Sexay!

I love it! I recently got into orange even though its one of the colors I swore I’d never wear.

Orange is a fabulous color. Period. You’ll be surprised how many colors work well with it. Pink, sure. Green? Why not? Blue, brown, purple, have a ball. And I’m not just saying that because I love orange.
