Aaaand…we’re back.

I have a problem.

I have a problem in that I never want to do anything until I’m Ready. And by Ready I don’t mean “well, as soon as I fire up my computer and open Firefox to my Create New Post page, I’ll be ready.” I mean “as soon as I get the site redesigned and the bugs worked out, and as soon as the stars align and the house is clean and we’ve achieved world peace, I’ll be Ready.”

I’m sure you can see where this would be a problem.

So, I haven’t finished the redesign. It’s being worked on, and when it’s finished it will be beautious and frabulous and there will be a contest to celebrate (woo!), so there’s something to look forward to. But I’m going to go ahead and stick my head out of my cocoon anyway, because I miss blogging, and because some of you are starting to send me e-mails enquiring if I’m dead. And that’s no good.

So, how about a little catch-up?

As I’m sure most of you noticed, Halloween just passed, and some of you may recall that Halloween is a Very Important Holiday around these parts. This year was no exception, and getting the costumes done on time was one of the bajillion requirements for Ready. As per usual, everything was put off until the last minute, and there was great rushing and gnashing of teeth. Our Halloween party was last Friday (11/3), and Bradon ended up taking the day off work to finish sewing up my costume. Yay procrastination!

Of course, it was totally worth it.

What a lovely couple.

We were awarded the stuffed dolls as prizes in the costume contest, so we must not have done too bad a job. Of course, the crowd insisted on a kiss.

Awwwww....

Though, I gotta tell you…even though I knew it was my beautiful boy under there, it was pretty hard to willingly kiss that face. Blech.

What? Knitting. Oh, well…there is that.

Here’s what I learned about knitting during my hiatus: don’t knit angry.

D'oh.

Yes, that would be my lovely 40 inch, US3 Addi Natura, with one of the ends snapped clean off. I was just knitting along, minding my own business, fuming over something totally not related to knitting, when I heard that horrible, muted pop, and watched all those fiddly little stitches go sliding into the gap between the needle and the cord. Who, me? High strung? Knit too damn tight? Couldn’t be.

Rest assured, the stitches were rescued, the replacement needle was ordered, and the sweater has been carefully transferred.

No Fair Isle was harmed.

I’m almost done with the fourth repeat. Armscye steeks coming up!

Despite the fact that I’m a horrible, no-good, lazy-ass blogger who just up and disappears for a month, I have the sweetest, kindest, most wonderful friends on earth.

Exhibit #1: knitted fangs.

Bunnicula?

Many of you probably saw this over at Lee Ann’s place, but it bears repeating…she knit fangs for me. A perfect little vampire bunny…I can’t tell you how totally in love I am. Our dear little bunny-vamp has already attended two BloodShadows sessions, and has quickly and lovingly been adopted as the official mascot. I am wholly unworthy.

Exhibit #2: check out these stitch markers!

The perfect colors.

A while back I won a contest that Tina held, and she asked what colors I wanted for my yarn and markers. I waved my hands around and made vague sounds about brown and blue and green, and from my not-very-helpful response she produced glorious, glorious yarn and hand-made beaded stitch markers. Love, love, love. Thank you, Tina!

So, I should be around from now on (no promises, but sincere intentions.) I’ve missed you all more than I can say, and it feels great to be back. Now, if I can just coax Bradon into finishing up that masthead, I’ll be Ready.

Hey, you’re back! And look at you go on that sweater. Great job. But the heart attack caused by considering all those stitches falling off the wire? Dude. I’m too old for sudden shocks like that.

  4. 4Michelle

You two look AMAZING! As does your sweater! Welcome back.

Hey welcome back! I completely know what you mean about posting when things are not “right”. I blog more consistently now that my sites are all cleaned up.

Also, VERY nice job on the costumes! I do hair/makeup (though mostly just hair now) for film and the shadowing on the makeups is really quite nice.

YAY! I’m so glad you liked your goodies.

The gray in the brown and gray sock yarn? Yeah, looked like the perfect shade of blue in the LYS. but, after purchasing, I still thought it was pretty and that you would like.

Welcome back! The sweater is beautiful, and the costumes are great, too!

Glad your back! Love the costumes, the sweater is stunning and the bunny is so cute!

I love that brown Regia, very rich!

Love the Halloween costumes. Good to hear from you, too.

Hooray! A blog entry! I’ve missed you!

Those costumes are fabulous and the sweater is too beautiful for words. I hope you are giving yourself pats on the back for making something so special.

    Oh good, you’re back!

OMG, I would have been hysterical when that needle snapped! Well, if any stitches had started to unravel on Donegal. And it had to be Donegal. Which is looking mighty good by the way. Awesome that you’re almost to the armscye steeks!

That vampire bunny is just too adorabe.

  12. 12Sydney

Wow, look at your sweater! That’s looking really good. I love those costumes too.

Thanks for the tip!! I think my face would turn too red just asking for that. hehe. I’m working on another tip of sugar water, but if that doesn’t work out, I think there will be a trip to the store for Stiffy in my future!

By the way, great Halloween get-up. Such a great holiday!

Hey, glad to see you are back! That is a kick-ass halloween costume! (And ditto for Bradon’s).
The Donegal looks great, although I’m sorry about the demise of the Addi. bleh. Ha, it’s not taking you a billion years to do it. And it’s beautiful!

  15. 15Laura

ACK! I think I would have CRIED if my Addi Natura broke in the middle of my fair isle project! Waaaaa!! So where are you getting a 40″ US3 Addi Natura? I’ve only been able to find 32″ and I seriously need. forty. inches.

Donegal is beautiful and your costumes were so perfect! heh

Vampire bunny!!! I think that should be your costume next Halloween. :)
