There was a light breeze when we went out to take pictures, which made it very difficult to to get a good photograph. As you can see, the shawl is so light that even the slightest draft will set it aflutter.
It is, if I do say so myself, lovely beyond compare. I know you all are tired of trying to come up with new compliments on the same shawl, but I adore it. All credit goes to the incomparable Miriam for an incredible design, impeccable instructions, and pulling my ass out of the fire every time I wonked it up.
It has already been folded up, bundled up, and boxed up, and is in Bradon’s trunk awaiting a trip to the post office after work. I’ll definitely being insuring this package, though there’s not enough money in the world to compensate if something happens to it. Sure, buy more yarn, knit it again, but I couldn’t bear the thought of my very first piece of complex lace disappearing.
Why yes, I worry a lot. How could you tell?
I hope my mother thinks, as I do, that this Mother’s Day gift was worth the wait.

It’s lovely. If she doesn’t appreciate it, I’ll buy her a #1 Mom coffee cup and she can give me the shawl…

Oh. My. God. It’s GORGEOUS! And you KNOW I hate pink, so that’s saying a lot

Hm. I feel a strange urge to go home and immediately resume knitting on my mountain peaks shawl.
Yours is lovely, and I (like Miriam) generally dislike pink…

Whoa. So, so, so lovely. I love it. Makes me almost want to knit a shawl. (But I have no idea what I would do with one once it was knit.)

So beautiful – such a wonderful accomplishment! Yes! Your first piece of complex lace! I don’t know how I could possibly give it up! It’s definitely capable of twisting even the most die hard pink hater into submission.
I promise your mother will feel like it’s Mother’s Day every time she looks at it. And pets it. And smells it. I bet she’ll even wear it!

Your mother will adore it! It really is lovely.
It’s natural to worry about sending things through the mail, but if you insure it, they will be able to track it if anything happens, so it will be fine. I know what you mean about the insurance not being enough. I mailed a hat and socks for a friend’s new baby and the woman at the post office asked me about insuring it and I said, “No amount of insurance will cover the cost of the time I spent on this.”
I am so impressed you are giving it away. I don’t think I could!

Gorgeous shawl, and inspiring. I’ve been hanging onto several lace patterns for a while now, and just might get started on one.

Thanks for the compliments on my shawl, but you have gone far beyond, mastering Mountain Peaks which I have not gotten back to… the color is very beautiful against your skin and black dress. I hope that your mother treasures it!
