Insert handwaving here…

…because if I wave my hands enough, you might not notice that I didn’t do any knitting yesterday. Between basking in the glory of my newfound Fair Isle ability (thank you all so much for the compliments!), and trying to hide from and deny The Slippers That Shall Not Be Named, I was in a weird knitting limbo yesterday. I was casting about for another project – something I can either finish before the Olympics start, or that I will be willing to set aside for those sixteen days. I considered the CTH sock yarn, but Bradon and I are still negotiating who will receive the resultant socks, and I’m still pondering a good lace pattern for them (assuming the socks will be for me), so I didn’t really want to wrestle with all of that. I know that I still owe Bradon slippers, and deep down I know I should continue down the path of that particular madness, but I just can’t. Don’t ask me. I’ll revisit them someday, but not today.

So, instead, I decided to take the blind leap into the loveliest void…what to do with that beautiful Fleece Artist I have stashed away.

The plan? Knit a big triangle. I’ll be using L-B’s shawl formula, courtesy of Wendy – just enough of a pattern to give it a bit more oomph than a garter stitch triangle, but simple enough to really show off the glorious yarn. I think I’m going start out alternating the yarn every row (as is called for in the poncho pattern that came with the yarn) and seeing how I like it. I reserve the right to change my mind at any time.

Oh, and let me show you my sky yesterday!

Looking north

and south, from the parking lot, after work.

The whole world had taken on a yellow hue. Stunning.

Actually, this is a comment about your FI swatch, but you posted while I was writing, so I’m moving it up :)
First of all — hi! gorgeous yarn! gorgeous sky!
Second — FI and dpns do NOT play well together, as I found out when I got to the sleeves of my one-and-only FI sweater. Problem was, I had to use them because the circumference of the sleeves got too small for the circs, so you might have to do some sucking up with the dpns. Also, re gauge, how important is that for your project?

That sky is gorgeous, but that doesn’t look like snow. Please tell me there’s snow there…and let it not be a lie.

Just got my flight itinerary from my little bro. I’m Denver-bound!

Love the shine of that Fleece Artist.

Y’know, if you keep referring to the slipper failure enough, we’re going to start agitating for details…
