Let There Be Lips!
Happy Halloween, kids.
Saturdays appear to be the weak link in my new plan. This week I just flat-out forgot.
Okay, that’s not entirely true. Sometime around 3:00 pm I thought “Oh, yeah, I have to blog today. I’ll be sure to do that when I finish the Stealth Project.” Then I knit all day long, finished the Stealth [...]
Every once in a while it occurs to me how odd it is that I get along so well with my parents.
I mean, it’s not all roses and sunshine all the time. I was once a teenager, after all, with all the angst that implies. Nonetheless, especially now that I’m older, I get along really [...]
I know I’m not the first to say it, but it bears repeating: the secret to fast knitting is an interesting pattern.
If this were a 1X1 rib, or garter stitch, or something else terribly simple, there’s no way I’d be this far along. But a good cable pattern, easily memorized but with something interesting going [...]
Still no news.
I’m trying to do stuff, but it’s hard. I pick up the knitting, I put down the knitting. I pick up the book, I put down the book. The only thing that seems to hold my attention for any length of time is an old (1999) computer game (Pharaoh, for the curious.) It’s [...]
Things I learned today:
The line to get into the marketplace yesterday was nothing.
(That line goes down the hall and into the huge lobby. Insane.)
How to shape knee-high socks so that l neither cut off circulation to my feet nor have them pool at my ankles. (Thanks, Joan!)
That when Steph and Tina say “hey let’s break [...]
Oh. My. GOD.
There are no words.
I don’t even know where to begin.
Of course, it started with a couple minor disasters. A very tearful goodbye to my sweetie that probably had onlookers thinking that I would be gone for years. A pocket knife that I forgot I had in my purse that the very nice security [...]
The button band was picked up, knit, and bound off in a surprisingly short amount of time. All that’s left is the seaming, the blocking, and sewing on the buttons. I rule.
But, you know, I think you’ve all seen enough of that damn sweater. How about something a little cuter?
Danae (I think) being all adorable. [...]
Sometimes, things just don’t add up.
The instructions can be summarized as follows: over 153 stitches, count one section of fourteen stitches, place marker, mark off nine sections of fifteen stitches each, then knit the last four stitches in pattern. Sounds good, until you get to the end of the row and find only three stitches [...]
Hey look, it’s another crappy indoor progress shot – this time with a low contrast background!
Sorry about that.
Today was a day of errands (including a trip to Meininger, otherwise known as a little slice of heaven to those of us who love art supplies,) so I didn’t get a whole lot done on Decimal today. [...]
