I love Halloween, and I love Carrie, and rumor has it that Carrie loves Halloween as well.  Therefore, it seemed that the right thing to do was to knit Carrie and pair of spider socks for Halloween.
What?  It makes perfect sense to me.

I usually don’t have a problem with second sock syndrome.  I mean, yeah, the second sock is often a little more boring than the first, but because I’m a mostly monogamous knitter, I generally don’t end up with a lot of single socks floating around.  Sometimes a pair of socks takes me forever, since I [...]

Not that you can tell much from the poorly-lighted middle-of-the-night photo, but this is more or less exactly what I was going for.  So, that’s a first.
What I’m trying to do here is take a handpainted sock yarn that has a (somewhat arbitrarily-decided) main color and contrast color, and force that contrast color to pop [...]

As in, I expected my timid, fragile little idea to be either a great success or a grand failure.  Instead, I got something decidedly middling.

It’s kinda what I had in mind, but not quite.  It always amazes me that I’ve been knitting for…what, almost nine years now?…and I still get surprised by how knitting behaves [...]

Like so many of my failed knitting projects, this one too will start out with those hopeful and terrifying words:
I have an idea.
I don’t want to say too much about it yet, because ideas are fragile and skittish things, but I think it’s clever and I’m looking forward to seeing it blossom into brilliance…or fail [...]
